Financial Industry

Large Federal finance bank

The bank is responsible for the issuance and servicing of a fixed income debt portfolio of over $800 billion. The bank is also responsible for the production of the combined financial statements for all the other banks. We provided technical services associated with a critical Business Intelligence project in 2007 and 2008.

We played an integral role for the following

  • Documented the current technical environment, identified future milestones, needs, analyzed the existing warehouse and reviewed standards.
  • Gap Analysis, Technology / Tools evaluation and recommendation, Roadmap for re-architecture/ re-engineering services, Architecture and implementation of the solution
  • Evaluated data modeling techniques and data model augumentation
  • Build the data mart as part of an overall Data Warehouse strategy plan design the data to be scalable and extensible, so that it could easily accommodate growth in data volume and enable new types of information to be incorporated as part of future warehouse phases
  • Helped deploy systems to reliably integrate, clean, and normalize data from the various source systems across your organization.
  • Worked with Batch and trickle data feeds
  • Extract / Transform / Load (ETL) processes around structured and unstructured data. They sourced data from several mission critical databases and depositing that data both in a 3rd normal form operational data store and dimensional model.  The ETL jobs included check-logic and exception logging.
  • Business Objects universe design such that data could be effectively extracted by non-technical individuals from the star schema model.
  • Data warehousing optimization / tuning
  • Build a systematic process for explicit capture and management of Metadata
  • Integration of various data (ERP, Legacy data) into existing Data Warehouse / Data Mart

Technology profile:

  • Sybase RDBMS v12.5 – v15
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Solaris (UNIX)
  • BusinessObjects (SAP) Enterprise

Business Domain:

  • Fixed-income securities issuance including discount notes and complex bond structures (fixed rate, variable rate, callable, and more).
  • Multi-organization accounting consolidation.

Claims processing system for a large hospital

Description:

Development of HIPAA Compliant Electronic Claims Processing system for a Large Hospital in US

Project background:

This application is designed to process claims electronically for a major hospital. It is used to automate the existing workflow to enhance the profitability, productivity and efficiency of the existing billing system. This was accomplished by complying in conjunction with the established guidelines of HIPAA and Medicare. EDI is used for the data interchange between Medicare Intermediary and a provider. The application deals with ANSI ASC X12 Health care claim transaction sets. The various HIPAA formats that were complied with are 834, 270/271,275/277, 276, 820, 835, 837, 278 UB-92 and 997 formats.

Overview of work

:

  • Involved in the analysis of Health care claims processing.
  • Complete analysis on ANSI ASC X12 (834, 270/271, 275/277, 276, 820, 835, 837, 278, UB-92 and 997 formats.
  • Designed and developed EDI modules that provides information on HCPCS and EC codes.
  • Mapping of ANSI ASC X12 Health care claim transaction set.
  • Used automated EDI toolset like Mercator for Health care transaction processing.
  • Populated the data from flat files into databases
  • Unit testing and final system testing of the application

Telecom Industry

Wireless- Telecom company implementation

The Local Operation and Maintenance (LOM) component is a first level manager (EMS) in the Operations, Administration and Management (OAM) solution. It manages and interacts with the QChat Application Server (QAS) components directly on its southbound interface, and integrates with the Operation and Maintenance Console – QChat (OMC-QC) (NMS) on its northbound interface. The LOM contains most of the processing intelligence across all OAM functions. The OMC-QC will route all requests to the QAS components through the LOM. The LOM will send all the data collected to the OMC-QC through push mechanism. It had a set of main components like Fault Management, Configuration Management, Performance Management, Security Management, Diagnostic Management, Software Management, Command Line Interface (CLI),LOM-OMC-QC Interface Manager.

Developed QChat OAM solution via SOAP server and client interfaces. Another application was EMS/NMS application development using C++ using OO concepts and design pattern.

We were involved in understanding the scope of the project along with analysis and design, coming up with the technical stories, Implementation and testing.

We developed Multithreaded PML module. The Performance Management sub component (PML) is a regionally deployed Local Operation and Maintenance System (LOM) sub component that collects performance statistics from the QChat Application Server (QAS) managed objects and store in it MySQL database. Working with CLI commands to accept CLI commands from the LOM Manager and process and respond to the requests and also on SNMP interfaces to provide health information (CPU, Memory usage), traps, configuration options, and performance statistics.

For OMCQC is Responsible for defining the generic interface for the LOM and OMC-QC to communicate with each other. This interface is a Simple Object Access Protocol – Extensible Markup Language (SOAP-XML) based web service.

Implemented the Request formatter, Command Routing pattern Manager and LOMManagement and Purge Manager modules.

Environment: C++, Linux, MySQL, Accurev, SNMP, CLI, XML
